Individual lighting atmosphere
The roots of the GHG, a charitable organization, go back to 1816. It was founded to combat famine and its primary mission now is to provide help and support for those who require special care. The GHG Rosenberg Centre is the biggest project in the organization's long history. The project involved merging two separate care homes into one location at Rosenberg in St. Gallen.
The planning and construction of the project was a spectacular undertaking: to build an additional 130-unit building next to the existing one, a historical villa had to be moved 65 feet using steel rails and hydraulics. Constructed adjacent to the old building, the new building features multiple communal areas adorned with BEGA large area pendant luminaires.
The interior design features a combination of concrete and wood elements to create a sleek, modern atmosphere. With their lofty ceilings, the communal areas required special lighting solutions. BEGA large area pendant luminaires illuminate the spaces with unshielded light that produces efficient vertical illuminance free of glare. The luminaires are DALI-controlled to create an adjustable lighting effect. The elegant pendant design also functions as a striking feature that accentuates the height of the rooms.
