Uplight control plays a crucial role in outdoor lighting ordinances and ecosystem protection. BEGA DarkSky luminaires are designed to support DarkSky-compliant specifications while maintaining the optical performance required for architectural lighting.

BEGA DarkSky luminaires emit less than 1% of luminous flux and meet the criteria of IES TM-15-20, providing documented optical performance to support project requirements.

BEGA luminaires are evaluated using industry-standard metrics to meet outdoor lighting codes and ordinances:

BUG Ratings BUG ratings provide a reference for understanding a fixture's performance and overall light distribution. As the primary evaluation criteria for DarkSky, it gives designers valuable insight into which fixtures will work best for their layouts in efforts to limit uplight and preserve the night sky from sky glow.
CCT Limits Color temperatures of 3000K and warmer are chosen to minimize blue light and reduce sky glow. This focus minimizes the overall environmental impact of artificial lighting and a balanced approach to people and the planet.
